Winter is coming (OK so I’ve watched GoT lol) – with a bit of caution it seems. We’ve enjoyed magnificent warm sunny days throughout Autumn, although we are desperate for rain so hopefully that will arrive sooner rather than later.

What’s great about this time of year is that the daytime temperatures are lower – but the wind is less blowier too!

Mornings have been as still and calm as we could want and we’ve enjoyed some stunning early mornings watching the steam rising off the water as we paddle through what feels like a light cloud. Even at this time of year, there is plenty of bird action. Azure Kingfishers have been plentiful, and the might White-bellied Sea Eagles are as hungry for a feed of fish or eel as ever.

Now that the mornings are a little dark, and the sun is a little more reluctant to warm us in those early hours, we’re back into Lunch Tour mode. What’s different? Not much except that as we start an hour or so later than we do for our Morning tour, and our tours are still around the 3 hours long, we offer a delicious lunch option instead of our famous morning tea muffins.

There’s still that great Byron Bay coffee of course, but we also offer a healthy salad wrap – or the new option of a cup of hearty home-made soup.

Either way, kayaking on our crystal clear and clean river is an experience that is just as amazing in Winter as it is in Summer. You probably just won’t go for a dip – although that’s not against the rules!

Get on the water with our Award-winning tours. You won’t be disappointed.
